7 Books to Add to Your Reading List After Watching Irish Wish on Netflix

Irish Wish, the brand-new rom-com starring Lindsay Lohan just landed on our screens last week and suffice to say… I watched it immediately!

Is it good movie? No, not all all. Did I have so much fun? Yes!

Irish Wish follows an aspiring writer’s trip to Ireland for her best friend’s wedding. Trouble is, she’s in love with the groom! In her despair she makes a rash wish to a wily witch(?) that she was getting married instead and wakes up in an alternate reality where she’s the one marrying her crush! However, is he really her Happily Ever After, or should she peruse the spark she has with the handsome wedding photographer?

It’s sweet, silly and just a bit swoony. Lindsay Lohan is a delight on our screens, and the Irish landscape is GORGEOUS.

If you, like me, just want more Irish Wish vibes here are our reading recs!

Read: This Spells Love by Kate Robb

What if one little wish changed everything?

When Gemma gets dumped by her long-term boyfriend, she reacts the way any reasonable twenty-eight-year-old would: by getting drunk with her sister, kooky aunt, and best friend, Dax. They follow all the instructions, including a platonic kiss from Dax to seal the deal.

To reverse the spell and get back to her old life, Gemma must convince her once-best-friend-now-near-stranger to kiss her. But as she carries out her plans, she finds herself falling for him—hard. Read: Tastes Like Shakkar by Nisha Sharma

Bobbi Kaur is determined to plan a celebration to remember for her best friend’s wedding. But she has two problems that are getting in her way:

1. The egotistical, and irritatingly sexy, chef Benjamin “Bunty” Padda is supposed to help her with the menu since he’s the groom’s best friend, and

2. Someone is trying to sabotage the wedding.

With aspirations of taking over her family’s event planning business, Bobbi knows that one misstep in managing the Kareena Mann and Prem Verma (#Vermann) party, along with the other weddings on her plate, will only give her uncle another reason not to promote her. That means Kareena’s big day and Bobbi’s future career are on the line.

Bunty will do anything for his best friend, even though he has his hands full in finding a new location for his next restaurant while also playing mediator between his brother and father, the celebrated Naan King. When Prem asks Bunty to help with the wedding menu, he agrees, especially since it puts him in close proximity to the delicious Bobbi Kaur. When a mystery shaadi saboteur starts leaving threatening notes, and cancelling cake orders, Bunty and Bobbi have no choice but to call a truce and face the volatile attraction they have for each other.

The Witch is Back by Sophie H. Morgan

Love is a hex of a thing.

There’s nothing wrong with being a wallflower. Not to Emmaline Bluewater, anyway. Emma may have been born into witch society, but her days of trying to fit in where she doesn’t belong are over — they ended seven years ago, when the man she’d hoped to marry left town without a word. She’s much happier now, living a delightfully mundane human life in Chicago and running her bar, Toil and Trouble.

Until Bastian Truenote walks through the door and announces that he wants her back.

Bastian had his reasons for leaving — even if he can’t tell Emma what they are. Now, to win Emma’s heart, he’s got to face down an adorably goofy dog familiar, a best friend who’s all too eager to hit him with a carefully aimed hex, and a woman who’s far from the meek witch he remembers.

Magical contracts aren’t easily broken, but as far as Emma’s concerned, not even a marriage of convenience will have her falling under Bastian’s spell again…
