The Best Show You’re Not Watching… Love In Lockdown

Yes, we’re all totally over it, but lockdown can at least provide a few laughs. Love in Lockdown is a rom-com web series produced in the midst of (one of) Melbourne’s 2020 lockdowns.

Lucy Durack plays bubbly, hyper-organised WFH office manager Georgie, who has been gifted a ukulele and six online ukulele lessons. Her plan is to learn her parents’ song, Irving Berlin’s ‘What’ll I do?’, as a gift for their forthcoming wedding anniversary.

Her cantankerous teacher, Ned, played by an appealingly scruffy Eddie Perfect, seems her polar opposite. He’s a wannabe musician who’s lost his job in a café and is teaching online to earn a crust.

It’s an unlikely meet-cute, but they’re stuck at home, and with each other. In their weekly lessons they share sourdough tips, lockdown loneliness and anxiety, as well as jaunty ukulele tunes. It’s all going swimmingly … until it isn’t … Both Durack and Perfect can sing and play, and the musical numbers are a tonic for the lockdown blues any day. The six toe-tapping seven-minute episodes can be seen on YouTube.
